Wrapped lines and paragraphs are different

Text copied from a PDF may have a line break at every visual line. Join single breaks to reconstruct paragraphs, while keeping blank-line boundaries when you choose Preserve paragraphs.

The tool inserts a space between joined lines. It does not automatically repair split words such as “inter-” followed by “national”, because removing a hyphen could damage a legitimate compound.

Example: preserve the paragraph boundary

A single newline between First line and second line becomes a space. The blank line before Another paragraph stays when Preserve paragraphs is enabled.

First line
second line

Another paragraph

Keep meaningful line boundaries

Do not join tables, addresses, source code, or lists whose rows carry meaning. Review copied PDF text for reading-order mistakes: joining breaks cannot reconstruct columns.

Windows and classic Mac line endings are normalized to LF. The tool accepts up to 500,000 UTF-16 units, retains the input for comparison, and lets you copy or download the joined result.

Frequently asked questions

Will it repair a hyphenated word split across lines?

No. inter- followed by national becomes inter- national. Decide manually whether the hyphen belongs in the word.

Can I combine the whole input into one line?

Yes. Turn off Preserve paragraphs; newline runs become spaces.

Does it change repeated spaces within a line?

No. It handles whitespace around joined breaks. Use Text Cleaner for broader whitespace normalization.
